Galionul "Sf. Ioan Botezatorul"

San Giovanni Battista
San Giovanni Battista is a model of the Spanish galleon built in 1688.  The model is plank on frame built from a kit by Dale Rusmisell.  Mr. Rusmisell is an excellent craftsman and model builder with a reputation for precision work with attention to detail.
San Giovanni Battista is a fine example of the majestic galleons that ruled the seas during the 16th and 17th centuries.  San Giovanni Battista, Saint John the Baptist in English, had a painting of the saint on the stern of the ship. The galleon evolved from the caravel with a lowered forecastle and elongation of the hull that gave unprecedented stability in the water and reduced wind resistance at the bow, making it a faster more maneuverable vessel.
Galleons were built from oak with a large ship requiring over 2000 trees.   The ship weighed 400 tons, sailed at 4 to 8 knots, and could carry 100 sailors and passengers.  The galleon had five decks, three masts and awesome firepower.  Whether used for war or commerce the galleon was armed with demi-culverin type cannons.  Galleons were most famously used in the Spanish treasure fleet.

Salutare tuturor!

SUKHOY SU 34 32

The Su-34 has a three surface planform, with a conventional horizontal tail at the rear and a pair of canard foreplanes in front of the wings for extra lift and more maneuvering power. The Su-34 has an active-safety system with artificial-intelligence elements. This system enables the plane to execute just about any stunt and combat maneuver and to fly at near ground level at a maximum speed of 1,400 km/h (765 kts). The Su-34 can also fly in TERCOM (Terrain Contour Matching) mode, bypassing unexpected obstacles and streaking through ground air-defense zones.
The Su-34 has 12 pylons for up to 8,000 kilograms (17,635 lb) of ordnance, intended to include the latest Russian precision-guided weapons. It retains the Su-27/Su-30's 30 mm GSh-30-1 cannon. The Su-34 ordnance load includes subsonic and supersonic homing missiles and glider bombs, can destroy hardened and well-camouflaged targets at a range of up to 250 km. The airplane has enlarged capacity internal fuel tanks for practical unrefueled flight of 4,000 kilometres (2,160 nm). With three refuelings, the Su-34 is capable of covering a distance of more than 14,000 kilometres.

F 15 C EAGLE

The F-15 Eagle is an all-weather, extremely maneuverable, tactical fighter designed to gain and maintain air superiority in aerial combat. Also of note, it is the first United States Air Force fighter aircraft developed specifically for air-to-air combat since the F-86 Sabre designed in 1947. It is being replaced by the next generation F-22A Raptor.
The Eagle's air superiority is achieved through a mixture of unprecedented maneuverability and acceleration, range, weapons and avionics. It can penetrate enemy defense and outperform and outfight any current enemy aircraft. The F-15 has electronic systems and weaponry to detect, acquire, track and attack enemy aircraft while operating in friendly or enemy-controlled airspace. The Eagle can be armed with the AIM-7F/M Sparrow or AIM-120A/B/C AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile) radar guided missiles on its lower fuselage corners, with AIM-9L/M Sidewinder or AIM-120 missiles on two pylons under the wings, and an internal M61A1 Vulcan 20mm Gatling gun in the right wing root. The weapons and flight control systems are designed so one person can safely and effectively perform air-to-air combat. The F-15 holds the world record of 104 enemy aircraft destroyed with no F-15 losses. Over half of the kills were achieved by Israeli F-15 pilots

mh 60 blackhawk soa

One of the first 2 MH-60M BlackHawk helicopters newly assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) comes into land at the elite helicopter unit's base at Fort Campbell, Febuary 2011. The new MH-60M features a range of improvements over the current fleet of MH-60K 'Kilos' and MH-60L 'Limas', including:
  • improved rotor blades and engines 2x (General Electric CT7-8B-5 turboshaft) allow the MH-60M to operate at higher altitudes
  • Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS)- a suite of flight, systems and navigation aids integrated into a digitial glass cockpit made up of multi-function displays (MFDs). These MFDs can display a range of data such as moving map displays, mission planning screens, sensor data from the multimode radar of FLIR pod and data from external sources such as UAVs or JSTAR aircraft.
  • multi-mode radar
  • new-build cabin fuselage
  • composite tailcone and horizontal stabiliser
Over the next few years, the 160th SOAR's fleet of K/L models will eventually be upgraded to M standard in addition to a number of new-build airframes introduced.
